Thunderous applause and great excitement at the Bertelsmann Representative Office, Unter den Linden 1 in Berlin: Frank Dreeke (66) has officially been inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame. Around 180 international guests from business, academia, non-governmental organizations, and politics honored the achievements of the former BLG CEO for modern seaport logistics.
In his laudatory speech, Christian Hirte, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Transport, emphasized: “With strategic foresight and a clear focus on efficiency and sustainability, Frank Dreeke initiated decisive changes in seaport logistics. He enabled cooperation and created structures that continue to have an impact today. This has made him an architect of modern seaport logistics – an accomplishment that greatly impressed the international jury.”
The decision on the induction into the Logistics Hall of Fame was made in the summer by a jury of 70 well-known personalities from business, science, politics, and the media, representing 13 nations.
Logistics Leader of the Year Award for Stefan Hohm
The recognition of Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of DACHSER SE, was met with great enthusiasm by the audience. He received the “Logistics Leader of the Year Award 2025,” donated by STILL. The award acknowledges his significant contribution to the innovation and digitalization strategy of the logistics service provider based in Kempten.
Having been with the company for 33 years, Hohm stands for a combination of pragmatism and technological progress. Under his leadership, research and development at DACHSER have become a strategic cornerstone. Projects developed under his responsibility include the @ILO digital twin for real-time visualization of general cargo warehouses, zero-emission city logistics solutions, real-time tracking of trailers and swap bodies, and numerous initiatives in the fields of AI, machine learning, and big data.
Frank Müller, Senior Vice President Sales & Service Business Development at STILL, emphasized in his laudatory speech: “Stefan Hohm exemplifies a modern understanding of leadership - one that sees change not as a risk but as a space for shaping the future. More decisive than the what of his innovations is the how: he creates structures in which new ideas can emerge, driven by attitude, teamwork, and the aspiration to do the right things right in the long term.”
Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics for Welthungerhilfe
For the third time, the Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics was awarded during the event. The medal, sponsored by the Fritz Institute in California, went for the first time to a German aid organization: Welthungerhilfe (WHH).
The honored project, “Emergency Supply Prepositioning Strategy (ESUPS),” improves national strategies for pre-positioning relief supplies in disaster-prone regions. At its core is the digital platform STOCKHOLM, which transparently maps the inventories of various humanitarian organizations and provides recommendations on which goods should be stored in which quantities and at which locations.
ESUPS creates visibility, facilitates cooperation between NGOs, government bodies, and UN organizations, and reduces response times. At the same time, storage costs and the disposal of expired supplies are reduced.
“This communication platform, which has led to rapid networking among key players, is exemplary for the entire field of humanitarian logistics,” emphasized Dr. Anisya Thomas Fritz, co-founder of the Fritz Institute, in her laudatory speech. “Today, 127 actors share inventory data with 800 logistics experts in 60 countries, paving the way for coordinated preparedness strategies to become established. These figures are truly impressive,” she continued.
The Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics honors humanitarian organizations and their partners each year for outstanding logistics projects. The international award is presented by the Logistics Hall of Fame. The sponsor is the Fritz Institute from the United States.
